The Longest Night

I’m bored. It’s the longest night of the year. I’m enjoying my second 2am hour tonight. So cheers to abruptly finishing TWO posts I’ve had in the works for a while.

Enjoy the doubleheader. These are a bit more brutally honest than I’ve been for a while. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Ever get the feeling your life goes through phases? I’m not talking like, moods and habits. I’m saying it’s as if your life is based around a theme for some period of time, then moves on to the next theme, and on to the next one. But it’s not only you, it’s your entire life: you and every person you know — all the random people you know, completely unconnected to one another — in a similar boat.

I mentioned this to Carolina a week ago, and she gave me the greatest metaphor that I’ve heard anybody come up with for this.

Satisfaction

Part of my doubleheader.

Note: Most of the below was written in September.

I collapse and sprawl onto the couch. I turn my head, see her lying on the other couch, and tell her how exhausted I am. She says nothing. She just cocks her head sideways and gives me a look that asks “What am I supposed to do about that?”

I reply with a look back at her: “Absolutely nothing and I don’t care.” I lie back and take a deep breath.
